Expats blocked from official Bush website

AMSTERDAM — Less than a week before the election, American expats are unable to visit the official website of US President George W. Bush, it was revealed Wednesday.
Internet users from outside the US have been unable to visit the site, at www.georgewbush.com, since the early hours of Monday, according to a BBC report.
A message on the site says "you are not authorized to view this page".
According to the BBC, the block does not appear to be an attack by vandals or hackers, but as a result of a policy decision by the Bush camp.
Internet monitoring firm Netcraft found it could not visit the site from stations in London, Amsterdam and Sydney, but could from its four monitoring sites in the US.
It said the pattern of traffic to the website suggests that the block was not due to an attack by vandals or hackers.
Mike Prettejohn, president of Netcraft, speculated to the BBC that the decision to block usage was made to cut traffic to the site in the run-up to the 2 November poll and make sure the site remains active.
However, the block means that American expats are unable to visit the site in the crucial days before the Presidential election.
The block follows a similar ban on some overseas visitors to a US government-run expat voting information site.
In October it was revealed the Pentagon had blocked access to its voter information site (www.fvap.gov) by some foreign Internet Service Providers, including Wanadoo in France and Telefonica in Spain.
The block was removed following uproar among voter registration advocates. The US Defense Department at first said the block was placed on Pentagon websites to prevent attacks from hackers, but later said the barricade on the voter registration site had been left on inadvertently.

acum dupa ce ca duce un razboi josnic si nedemn, si dupa ce ca vrea sa suga tot petrolul irakian, uite domne si-a blocat si site-ul sa murim de curiozitate.
