Vitamina D poate avea influenta asupra felului in care organismul lupta cu bolile dupa ce s-a imbolnavit, dar nu este ca un vaccin. In comparatie, un vaccin pregateste sistemul imunitar formind anticorpi specifici si in momentul infectarii cu virus anticorpii formati il anihileaza.

Astea sint faptele. Chestia cu conspiratia universala, OMS etc sint povesti, cel mult presupuneri.

Am vazut azi un reportaj despre cancer. Se spune acolo ca inainte anumite tipuri de cancer apareau la oameni de 60-65 de ani iar acum apar la 20-25 de ani (de ex cancer de colon). Si ca numarul va creste. Nu este din cauza eroarii de diagnosticare (presupunind ca inainte de '89 nu se puteau diagnostica la fel), statistica e facuta in ultimii 20 de ani.

Va dorim sa cresteti mari si frumosi!

Key feature of immune system survived in humans, other primates for 60 million years

CORVALLIS, Ore. – A new study has concluded that one key part of the immune system, the ability of vitamin D to regulate antibacterial proteins, is so important that is has been conserved through almost 60 million years of evolution and is shared only by primates, including humans – but no other known animal species.

The fact that this vitamin-D mediated immune response has been retained through millions of years of evolutionary selection, and is still found in species ranging from squirrel monkeys to baboons and humans, suggests that it must be critical to their survival, researchers say.

Even though the “cathelicidin antimicrobial peptide” has several different biological activities in addition to killing pathogens, it’s not clear which one, or combination of them, makes vitamin D so essential to its regulation.

The research also provides further evidence of the biological importance of adequate levels of vitamin D in humans and other primates, even as some studies and experts suggest that more than 50 percent of the children and adults in the U.S. are deficient in “the sunshine vitamin.”

“The existence and importance of this part of our immune response makes it clear that humans and other primates need to maintain sufficient levels of vitamin D,” said Adrian Gombart, an associate professor of biochemistry and a principal investigator with the Linus Pauling Institute at Oregon State University.

In a new study in the journal BMC Genomics, researchers from OSU and the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center describe the presence of a genetic element that’s specific to primates and involved in the innate immune response. They found it not only in humans and their more recent primate ancestors, such as chimpanzees, but also primates that split off on the evolutionary tree tens of millions of years ago, such as old world and new world primates.

The genetic material – called an Alu short interspersed element – is part of what used to be thought of as “junk DNA” and makes up more than 90 percent of the human genome. That genetic material, however, is now understood to often play important roles in regulating and “turning on” the expression of other genes.

In this case, the genetic element is believed to play a major role in the proper function of the “innate” immune system in primates – an ancient, first line of defense against bacteria, viruses and other pathogens, in which the body recognizes something that probably doesn’t belong there, even though the specific pathogen may never have been encountered before.

“Many people are familiar with the role of our adaptive immune system, which is what happens when we mount a defense against a new invader and then retain antibodies and immunity in the future,” Gombart said. “That’s what makes a vaccine work. But also very important is the innate immune system, the almost immediate reaction your body has, for instance, when you get a cut or a skin infection.”

In primates, this action of “turning on” an optimal response to microbial attack only works properly in the presence of adequate vitamin D, which is actually a type of hormone that circulates in the blood and signals to cells through a receptor. Vitamin D is produced in large amounts as a result of sun exposure, and is available in much smaller amounts from dietary sources.

Vitamin D prevents the “adaptive” immune response from over-reacting and reduces inflammation, and appears to suppress the immune response. However, the function of the new genetic element this research explored allows vitamin D to boost the innate immune response by turning on an antimicrobial protein. The overall effect may help to prevent the immune system from overreacting.

“It’s essential that we have both an innate immune response that provides an immediate and front line of defense, but we also have protection against an overreaction by the immune system, which is what you see in sepsis and some autoimmune or degenerative diseases,” Gombart said. “This is a very delicate balancing act, and without sufficient levels of vitamin D you may not have an optimal response with either aspect of the immune system.”

After years of research, scientists are continuing to find new roles that vitamin D plays in the human body. It can regulate the actions of genes that are important to bone health, calcium uptake, and inhibition of cell growth. It helps regulate cell differentiation and, of course, immune function.

“The antimicrobial peptide that we’re studying seems to be involved not just in killing bacteria, but has other biological roles,” Gombart said. “It recruits other immune cells and sort of sounds the alarm that something is wrong. It helps promote development of blood vessels, cell growth and healing of wounds. And it seems to have important roles in barrier tissues such as skin and the digestive system. Vitamin D is very important for the health of the skin and digestive system, and putting the cathelicidin antimicrobial peptide gene under its regulation may be important in this function.”

Any one, or some combination of those biological roles may be why vitamin D-mediated regulation of the antimicrobial peptide has been conserved in every primate species ever examined for its presence, researchers said, and did not disappear long ago through evolutionary variation and mutation. The evolution of primates into many different families and hundreds of species has been carefully tracked through genetic, molecular sequence and fossil studies, but the presence of this regulatory element in primates is still largely the same as it’s been for more than 50 million years.

The evolutionary survival of this genetic element and the placement of the cathelicidin antimicrobial peptide gene under the regulation of the vitamin D pathway “may enable suppression of inflammation while potentiating innate immunity, thus maximizing the overall immune response to a pathogen and minimizing damage to the host,” the researchers wrote in their conclusion.

Vitamin D deficiency is an issue of growing concern among many scientists, due to changing lifestyle or cultural trends in which many people around the world get less sun exposure and often inadequate dietary levels of the vitamin. It’s a special problem with the elderly, which often have reduced exposure to sunlight and less ability to produce vitamin D in their skin – and at least partly as a result, are more susceptible to bone fractures, chronic inflammation and infectious disease.

Faptul ca cineva face cunoscute rezultatele unei cercetari, fie el si urban, nu ne indreptateste sa facem bascalie. Nu cred ca cineva a golit vreun flacon de vitamina D la citirea acestor randuri, cel mult s-a documentat suplimentar.



Ultimele descoperiri stiintifice arunca o noua lumina asupra vitaminei D. Daca pana acum stiam doar ca ajuta la fixarea calciului in oase, oamenii de stiinta ne pun la dispozitie cateva informatii care ne fac so o privim cu alti ochi. Iata de ce:

Vaginite barcteriene
Una dintre cele mai frecvent intalnite probleme in randul femeilor este vaginita, care se transforma intr-un adevarat pericol in timpul sarcinii.

Oamenii de stiinta de la Universitatea Pittsburgh au reusit sa demonstreze ca femeile insarcinate cu deficienta de vitamina D sunt expuse unui risc crescut de a dezvolta vaginite bacteriene fapt ce favorizeaza nasterea prematura.

Infarct si atac cerebral
Cercetarile efectuate la Mid-America Heart Institute din Kansas, Statele Unite, arata ca deficienta de vitamina D creste riscul de boli cardiace, in special crize si atac cerebral. Iar un alt studiu demarat inca din anul 1996 la Harvard atesta aceleasi concluzii: nivelul scazut al vitaminei D in organism dubleaza riscul de infarct.

Cancer
Statisticile arata ca bolnavii de cancer inregistreaza in mare parte deficiente ale vitaminei D in sange. Cercetatorii de la Universitatea din California explica chiar ca primul semnal in cancer este pierderea aderentei celulare cauzata printre altele de un nivel scazut al vitaminei D.

Ruperea legaturilor celulare creeaza terenul propice aparitiei unor celule agresive care mai tarziu formeaza tumori.

Alte studii au demonstrat ca incidenta cancerului de colon, de san si de prostata este cu mult mai mare in regiunile in care expunerea la soare este mai scazuta, si prin urmare producerea vitaminei D este impiedicata.

Raceala si gripa
Unul dintre cele mai cuprinzator studiu efectuat vreodata in Statele Unite, care a reunit 19.000 de voluntari, a demonstrat ca nivelul scazut de vitamina D in organism este direct raspunzator de aparitia infectiilor respiratorii, precum raceala sau gripa.

Deteriorarea functiei cognitive
Persoanele in varsta ar trebui sa-si monitorizeze atent cantitatea de vitamina D ingerata zilnic, intrucat cantitatile insuficiente nu pot proteja functia cognitiva, aceasta deteriorandu-se iremediabil. Iata concluzia la care au ajuns cercetatorii de la Universitatea Manchester.

Osteoartrita
Studiile efectuate la Menzies Research Institute din Tasmania au asociat lipsa vitaminei D cu pierderea de cartilaj la nivelul articulatiilor osoase, in special ale genunchilor, in cazul persoanelor trecute de prima tinerete. Iar reducerea masei cartilaginoase este primul semn al osteoartritei.

Vitamina D intervine in imunitatea innascuta si capatata, prin intermediul receptorilor VDR, care sunt factori de transcriptie nucleari. Acestia sunt prezenti in nucleii majoritatii celulelor imune, cum ar fi monocitele, macrofagele activate, celulele dendritice, celulele NK (natural killer), limfocitele T si B. In consecinta, activarea receptorilor VDR declanseaza efecte antiproliferative, de stimulare a diferentierii si de imunomodulare (efecte de booster imunitar si imunosupresive). De exemplu, actionarea receptorilor VDR din limfocitele T determina supresia activarii acestora si inductia celulelor T supresoare, ca si efecte pe modelele de secretie a citokinelor. Liganzii VDR afecteaza si maturarea, diferentierea si migrarea celulelor dendritice(CD) si inhiba activarea CD-dependenta a limfocitelor T, efectul global fiind unul de imunodepresie.

Aceeasi liganzi cresc activitatea celulelor natural killer si stimuleaza activitatea fagocitara a macrofagelor. Calcitriolul stimuleaza productia de cathelicidina(LL37), un peptid antimicrobian produs de macrofage ca raspuns la stimuli bacterieni, virali si fungici. Consecutiv, deficienta de vitamina creste riscul de infectii, indeosebi respiratorii (gripa, TB). De altfel, toti pediatrii stiu ca un copil rahitic are o sensibilitate crescuta la infectii si o diminuare globala a imunitatii. Un studiu efectuat in 1997 in Etiopia, pe copii rahitici, a aratat ca riscul de pneumonie este de 13 ori mai mare la acest grup, decat la grupuri de copii non-rahitici.

De asemenea, un studiu englez efectuat recent arata ca, la persoanele sanatoase care vin in contact cu pacienti tuberculosi, o singura doza orala de vitamina D creste imunitatea impotriva BK . Studiul confirma tratamente empirice din epoca anterioara antibioticelor, in care vitamina D era folosita si in tratamentul TB. Este indicata si o alta directie de urmarit – eficacitatea suplimentelor de vitamina D in eventuala prevenire a reactivarii infectiilor tuberculoase latente.

Asadar, liganzii VDR, inclusiv suplimentele de calcitriol, isi pot gasi aplicatii terapeutice in afectiuni inflamatorii articulare(artirta psoriazica, reumatoida), in afectiuni deramtologice (psoriazis), osteoporoza, cancere, boli autoimune (LED, diabet de tip 1, scleroza multipla), ca si in prevenirea rejectului de transplant. Studii efectuate recent la Universitatea din Wisconsin au sugerat ca vitamina D protejeaza si fata de degenerescenta maculara. S-a folosit baza de date a National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (1988-1994) pentru a urmari asocierea dintre nivelul de calcitriol, patternurile nutritionale (consum de lapte, peste) si prevalenta degenerescentei. Explicatia rolului protector al calcitriolului pare a fi actiunea sa antiinflamatoare.

Mechanism of action of vitamin D

The pathology of influenza involves a complex
interaction between the virus, acquired immunity, and
innate immunity. Macrophages rapidly release cytokines
into infected respiratory tissue while virucidal
antimicrobial peptides attempt to prevent viral replication
[33]. The release of proinflammatory cytokines,
as much as the virulence of the virus, may determine
the clinical phenotype of influenza infection. Recent
research confirms that the clinical phenotype of
influenza correlates well with amount of cytokines
released [34, 35]. Furthermore, the severity of the
illness induced by genetically reproduced 1918 influenza
virus also correlates with the ability of the virus
to induce macrophage production of cytokines [36].
In avian influenza, the innate cytokine immune response
can be overwhelming; levels of such cytokines
are significantly higher in those with a fatal outcome
[37, 38].

Recently, vitamin D has been found to modulate
macrophages’ response, preventing them from releasing
too many inflammatory cytokines and chemokines
[39, 40]. Vitamin D deficiency also impairs
the ability of macrophages to mature, to produce
macrophage-specific surface antigens, to produce the
lysosomal enzyme acid phosphatase, and to secrete
H2O2, a function integral to their antimicrobial
function [41, 42]. The same authors found that the
addition of 1,25(OH)2D increased expression of
macrophage-specific surface antigens and the lysosomal
enzyme acid phosphatase while stimulating
their ‘oxidative burst’ function.

Toxic vitamin D overdose through supplementation is certainly possible, although it is generally seen when doses of 40,000 IU or more of D have been taken daily for an extended period. Sunshine-induced vitamin D toxicity has never been observed, however. To put this in perspective, an adult woman with white skin exposed to summer sun while wearing a bikini generates about 10,000 IU of vitamin D in 15 to 20 minutes. Longer exposures do not generate higher amounts of vitamin D, because UVB light also degrades the vitamin, preventing too much of it from building up in the skin.

Pana acum, majoritatea parerilor la acest subiect au fost contra calitatilor vitaminei D in ce priveste sistemul imunitar. S-a afirmat ca aceasta poate fi benefica in terapia alternativa pentru unele boli, dar ca nu poate preveni alte boli. Suplimentele, pe care le dam bebelusilor si copiilor cu aceasta vitamina, nu previn rahitismul ? Suplimentele pt. batrani nu previn osteoporoza, afectiunile dentare si alte afectiuni ? Sa ignor pur si simplu toata munca de cercetare si concluziile unor specialisti in domeniul medical ?

Rahitismul nu este o boala care vine din senin. Rahitismul este efectul lipsei vitaminei D. In schimb gripa nu este rezultatul lipsei vitaminei D. De aceea rahitismul poate fi combatut eliminand cauza lui, lipsa vitamninei D, pe cand gripa, a carei cauza nu este lipsa vitaminei D, nu poate fi combatuta cu vitamina D, asa cum sustin urban spam & fanii.

Eu n-am citit pe nimeni contra vitaminei D. Dar nici sa ne luam dupa toti paranoicii care sfatuiesc sa nu vaccinezi copiii si sa le dai vitamina D. Uite in Australia nu se administreaza vitamina D la copii, DELOC. Si gripa porcina a trecut peste noi si din cate stiu nu a murit nimeni considerat initial sanatos. Au murit mai putini decat la o gripa obisnuita, in general cei cu patologie complexa si in stare terminala. La fel, speranta de viata este printre cele mai mari in lume (pe locul 2 dupa Japonia parca), copiii sunt mult mai sanatosi si mancaciosi . Si toate astea fara administrare de vitamina D. Acum, poti trage concluzia ca vitamina D este nociva? Nu. Concluzia este ca noi stam mai mult la soare. Cred ca sfatul cel mai echilibrat ar fi sa luati copiii de la TV si calculator si sa-i duceti sa se joace afara zilnic indiferent de anotimp.

Ma faci sa mor de ras pe bune, daca ne trimiti tu soare din Australia zilnic ar fi si mai bun sfatul decat asta cu "indiferent de anotimp" si pe aceasta cale anunt forumul DC, care poate habar n-are dar in Olanda se joaca copiii saracii afara si pe ploaie, ca altceva tot nu avem decat o data la nspe zile.

Dar daca si ploaia ne ajuta la asimilarea vitaminei asteia D propun sa le dea naibii un "tip" careva alora de la OMS, ca uite fraierii induc populatia tarilor astora mai nordice, din nota bene: emisfera nordica, in eroare.

Eu n-am citit ce zice nenea asta, dar chiar daca nu cred in eficacitatea unor vaccinuri ca asta de "porcina" si altele din "noul val" nu vad legatura intre vitamina D si vaccinuri...deci inteleg ca totusi suntem toti de acord ca e buna si vitamina asta la ceva.

Mai nou se studiaza si legatura lipsei vitaminei D cu autismul.

Urban nu sustine nimic, ci a postat un articol publicat de Linus Pauling Institute (Oregon State University), preluat apoi pe o multime de alte site-uri. Iar legatura cu infectiile bacteriene, virale si alti patogeni nu o fac doar cei de la LPI.

Bird, in Australia nu se administreaza vitamina D pentru ca nu este nevoie. In Canada, Europa - da, si nu as zice ca sunt cu totii paranoici.

Cand am zis paranoici m-a refeream la cei care vad conspiratii la fiecare pas si ajung sa sfatuiasca oamenii sa ia vit D in loc sa se vaccineze sau sa se trateze cu coaja de copac ca sa nu faca jocul companiilor farmaceutice. Inteleg necesitatea administrarii vitaminei D in anumite zone dar asta nu o face panaceu.

Ma bucur ca te-am facut sa mori de ras, face bine la sanatate . Oricum, postul nu iti era adresat tie in special sau mamelor din Olanda. Era un post general si cred ca majoritatea celor care scriu pe forumul asta traiesc in zone in care nu ploua atat de des, cel putin eu nu-mi amintesc sa fie asa ploios in Romania. Am zis indiferent de anotimp pentru ca atunci cand eram in Romania stiam o gramada de mame care nu isi scoteau copiii afara iarna sa nu cumva sa se imbolnaveasca si ii imbracau ca la Polul Nord. Chiar daca e iarna tot sunt zile insorite si copiii pot profita.
