This lamb is officially called Le Gigot D'Agneau De Montgeoffroy - Montgeoffroy-style Leg of Lamb. It was apparently cooked for the Queen Mother in 1981, who then asked the chef to visit Windsor Castle to give her chefs the recipe. Once you've made this, you will understand. You will also find it hard to go back to a traditional roast leg of lamb...

Seven hour lamb
1 leg of lamb, about 2kg
few tblsp olive oil
2 carrots, sliced
2 onions, sliced
one bottle dry white wine
6-10 cloves of garlic, unpeeled
thyme
bay leaf

- place the lamb in a baking dish and brush with the oil
- add the vegetables and pour over the wine
- marinate for 24 hours, turning when you remember
- preheat oven to 120C
- put some oil in a baking dish and heat, brown the lamb all over
- pour over all the marinade and some stock until it comes half way up the lamb
- place in the oven on low heat and cook, without covering, for 7 hours
- Serve in its cooking tray.

Ana-Maria, uite eu pe asta am incercat-o si a iesit misto numai ca mis e pare cam grasa de la bacon dar ii da aroma faina.

Shrimp and Grits Recipe courtesy Martha Nesbit


4 cups water
Salt and pepper
1 cup stone-ground grits
3 tablespoons butter
2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
1 pound shrimp, peeled and deveined
6 slices bacon, chopped
4 teaspoons lemon juice
2 tablespoons chopped parsley
1 cup thinly sliced scallions
1 large clove garlic, minced

Bring water to a boil. Add salt and pepper. Add grits and cook until water is absorbed, about 20 to 25 minutes. Remove from heat and stir in butter and cheese.
Rinse shrimp and pat dry. Fry the bacon in a large skillet until browned; drain well. In grease, add shrimp. Cook until shrimp turn pink. Add lemon juice, chopped bacon, parsley, scallions and garlic. Saute for 3 minutes.

Spoon grits into a serving bowl. Add shrimp mixture and mix well. Serve immediately.

Eu vreau reta aia de cozonac la masina. Se facea cu tzaic proaspat? Ca parca in masina mea zice sa nu pun. Si ceva instructiuni pentru masina daca se poate ( ce cile...etc)

completez : italiana, mexicana, thailandeza :))

Valentina: mincarea traditionala americana nu e chiar ff diferita de a noastra, doar ca ei adauga dresinguri si tot felul de sosuri la mincare, nu maninca atitea ciorbe/supe si tocanite ca noi.
La restaurantele cu specific american de obicei de maninca : hamburger f bun (nu ca la fast food), cartofi piure, gratar de pui sau vita sau ce o mai fi, salate de tot felul, legume innabusite, garnitura de porumb din conserva cu unt deasupra, iahnie de fasole, corn bread (chec cu malai dulce-sarat), tot felul de sosuri care vin cu salata sau carnea, etc. Si deserturile sint f bune, preferatul meu e placinta cu mere (calda) cu glob de inghetata de vanilie deasupra si dresing de caramel.
Copiii maninca mult paine cu unt de arahide si dulceata de capsuni. :)


hai ca va dau reteta care o fac eu de banana bread (pt romancele de acasa: e un chec asa de simplu care se maninca tare des aici mai ales la mic dejun si la cafea)
E asa de bun, nu e deloc sec, iasa un pic umed si pufos.

1 1/4 pahar faina
2 oua
1/2 pahar zahar
1/2 lingurita sare (daca margarina e sarata nu mai
pui)
1 lingurita bicarbonat alimentar
3 banane
8 linguri unt sau margarina
1/3 pahar nuci - optional

-spumezi putin untul/margarina cu zaharul, adaugi mixand cu telul bananele pisate.

-bati ouale si le adaugi

-adaugi: faina, sarea si bicarbonatul

- coci in tava de cozonac la foc mediu appx 35-40 min ( verifici cu scobitoarea daca e copt)

Daaa! cum am putut sa uit de chiar barbecue:)) tare bun.
Si la capitolul deserturi am uitat de cup cakes - ma innebunesc astia cu cup cakes-urile lor. Vecina tot apare cu ele si pune niste creme extrem de dulci pe ele si decoratii din bombonele si tot felul. Asta e un desert dupa care nu ma dau in vint sincer :)

Da de alergiile la mincare ce ziceti? (ca alea la polen, praf etc cam toti le au pe aici) eu ma sperii cind aud ce de alergii au.
Daca vin copii la noi in casa, primul lucru ii intreb la ce au alergii sa stiu sa nu gafez cind le dau ceva sa pape.
